Bernard Georges signed on a dodgy POA
ONE of the most prominent lawyers in Seychelles, who is also the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly Attorney Bernard Georges is involved in an international scandal that is seriously destroying the reputation of Seychelles. This matter is being investigated by the FBI and a British Lawyer based in the USA, who has already filed several petitions in the courts against the alleged perpetrators on behalf of those who have been defrauded of their investment. Dr. Jonathan Levy has contacted the local authorities in Seychelles to try and establish the extent of our involvement and to get to the bottom of this matter. So far the law enforcement agencies in Seychelles have refused to look into this matter which has the potential to cause serious damage to our reputation and the economy.
Dr. Jonathan Levy has also contacted Bernard Georges personally by letter through email to ask for his assistance and his version of the saga and to explain his stamp and signature on the documents. In a letter dated 22 March 2021, Dr. Jonathan Levy reminded the Hon. Bernard Georges that he had written to him a week before and had not had a reply to his inquiry. This letter was sent to Georges again on 24 March 2021: 'Therefore, if I do not hear back from you directly as to the authenticity of the impugned documents, I will be formally asking the Attorney General of Seychelles to investigate both documents at the center of a billion dollar crime…' Dr. Jonathan Levy wrote to Bernard Georges.
Dr. Levy followed up with another email to Bernard Georges on 7th April 2021. Hon. Bernard Georges sent a reply back under pressure using his National Assembly email address to say that he was busy in the National Assembly with the budget debates and had not had an opportunity to reply, another blatant lie from Mr. Bernard Georges; he accepted that the document bears his signature and notary stamp, and he went on to state that his signature and notary stamp were affixed not to authenticate the document but only to prove its existence. Mr. Bernard Georges must think that we are all fools. Hon. Bernard Georges went on to explain and justify his involvement in the scam in his email to Dr. Levy, but he got caught in his web of lies.
In the meantime, the law enforcement agencies in Seychelles have all shied away from even looking at the merit of an investigation in the matter against Hon. Bernard Georges. The Commissioner of Police was made aware along with the office of the Attorney General. The FIU, FCIU, and ACCS have all acted in a manner that showed their reluctance to investigate the matter to untaint our good name internationally. They would rather abandon the integrity of a whole nation to the dumping site and plunge the country into international controversy just to protect a corrupt lawyer who has destroyed the lives of many many people in Seychelles and now also internationally.
However, the story will continue next week to further highlight the other players who got caught in that web unknowingly. We (SIN) are determined to salvage the reputation of Seychelles from being tarnished further because of the action of a greedy and corrupt lawyer who is being protected by this Government.
