  1. This Arab is ignorant as a Camel! He should have found out what is the true National day for Seychelles before sending congratulatory message for an anniversary of a coup d'Etat! Any country has only one National Day. But this is Seychelles sa!, must celebrate more than once.
The doctorates in the Government of Seychelles should be able to research which date is the appropriate National Day for their tiny nation:-
    29th. June
    18th. June or 05th. June
Cannot be all three, time to rectify this stupidity created by one party State mentality.

  2. June 5 is the day fat ladies dance and men without teeth cheer fat momma s with fat dangling from their arms. They even laugh at each other. How can this be a national day?

  3. It is never too late! The British government is expected to apologise and offer compensation to those tortured during the Mau Mau uprising in Kenya in the 1950s. What about Seychelles government? Isn't it time to apologies and compensate those victimized during the one party State?
Since they would not even consider setting up a Truth Commission, it is high time those responsible for the Coup d'Etat be investigated by the International Criminal Court of Justice before they all die and the witnesses are still alive and ready!

  4. I agree with the points above. It is perceived in the international community that everything is fine in paradise, especially since the first President James Mancham spends all his time telling the World, everything is fine.

When June 5th rolls around, and he is in the country, first time ever, he wishes the 24 hours would end and June 6th would roll in as fast as possible.

What has he done for the remaining 364 days of the year aside for work for PL Michel, the coup plotters?

  5. My holiday was interrupted by a stupid political scene, to see mostly fat women dressed in red paying homage to an iron idol called 'Zhome Libre'. Whilst a short distance away a very touching scene was taking place, to watch some very brave individuals humbly praying and laying wreaths for the people that were killed and made to disappeared during a Coup d'Etat that occurred on 5th. June 1977. This last group, not very large, was the real people, to publicly show their remembrance for their long lost and loved ones, a thing that they have not been able to do for the past 36 years! I was told.

The government Television and Newspaper Nation reported the event at 'Zhome Libre' but not a word about the group at St. Paul Cathedral and in front of Police Headquarters. It seems that Seychelles to some degree is still under autocratic rules and far from true democracy.

What was most ironic about those events was the Bishop officiating at the ceremony at St. Paul Cathedral is the brother of a murdered man and the murder took place right there at the Police Headquarters! The murder took place in the presence of the main Coup-plotter France Albert Rene, his co-conspirator Maxime Ferrari and many others! It was a complete script, the then Chief Justice who was being detained witnessed the whole murder scene through the cell-grills.

The people of Seychelles have never been told the whole truth of what happened on that day of infamy. It appears that details about the coup are few and not a single book has been written about it. The public would like to know what took place, who were involved, who said what, where and when. Example, when the man was shot at the Police Headquarters, the Chief Justice shouted "This is murder!" and Doctor Maxime Ferrari ran out and examined the man on the ground and pronounced him dead. The bullet from the shot pierced Ferrari's dark green Rover car door!

There has never been a commission of truth for an apology from the past or present Government. For the younger generation, for history and for healing process, the people of Seychelles need to know the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. It seems that the media has been muffled and there is a big silence about fine details of information and personalities involved.

The list of people murdered, disappeared and victimized is long and details of the murders, disappearances and victimization have never been disclosed, but the public would like to know.

I suggest that next time 5th. June comes around, more people come forward to commemorate those murdered and those who disappeared. More detailed information is made public of what really happened, after all, you do not have to wait for the government to start a commission of truth!

  6. Seychelles is said to be unique,so the Butcher can allow himself to celebrate twice Independence day, making Seychelles more unique than ever.

Michel the Butcher refuses to face the truth,it is part of his dishoensty.he seeks to obfuscate,to cloud everything weith his insanities. He lies by ommission,he is a recidivist.

Moreover,Dr Meriton decides unilarerally that Pp must open an office of Asylum seekers, without public debates,no consultation of the public, and noting also that we do not have Asylum laws. The latter,in my opinion should be that Seychelles stays without Asylum laws that would encourage the invasion of oue already limited land by ofreigners from Pakistanis terrorists to Somalis pirates, and facilitates El MateRi Asylum quest for Asylum on our shoress.(The latter commited crime on our shores by breaching our immigration laws,he could in any case be gratned Asylum even if we would have an Asylum law.Seychelles is already infested with cheap uncontrolled foreign workers, that Seychellois have been calling on Pp to reduce.Encouraging foreigners to seeking Asylum in our country by passing an illegal law by Meriton is dangerous,a breach to our security, sovereignty, and the risks that instead of seeing a few Somali pirates we would have boats teem with Somalis women and childrens entering our EZZ and asking for Asylum is real.

Seychelles should not create the conditions to encourage foreigners to invade on shores, nor to modify our society, culture, tradition and import potential terrorists and embed them in our Living rooms, hatch them to after destroy the peace and security of our land.

Pp wants to modify Seychelles society either to fulffill crusader Khaifa fantasy ,thus a means to accelerate the imortation of foreigners from Muslim countires to ounumbered Chrsitain Seychellois and turn our land into Khalifa^s Skiechdom in which foreign Muslim would be the amjority to secure his new dynasty.

Lastly,Chris ,you took the right responsible decision to sack JP ,an irresposible that does not have the taits a laeder needs to hold such position as Genral Secretary of SFp,maybe NDP,not SFP.
JP did not only passes his time boozing Guiness on a Tomb in the cemetry,he also disrepects the dead---there is a clear sign that says "Do not disturb the dead Jp".Moreover,he drive drunk, which could have put the lives of innocent Seychellois is jeopardy, but he even allow El Materi to make him a sell out with just a plate of couscous,a guiness and few pieces of Tunisien silver-platted Dinars.A KA Ba Bra,El Materi needed to polished his Aladine Lamp once to make the man who porclaim to walk in the foot steps of the mna of Galilee turn into Judahs.

  7. looking at various websites in Africa, already there are Africans who are asking how to get to Seychelles and live"Website AfricaGuide).Aas you well know Africans are one are most probelamtic when it comes to Asylum, they are ready to invade another nation land over-night and if neccessary his whole village.

We refuse any implementation of Asylum laws or laws to encourage and help the colonization of our land by foreigners ,especailly Muslim primitives with archiac cultures and traditionals that do not have anything near to us.Is that another reason why PP was poisionib g,and killing unborn Seychellois babies to facilitate our country's invasion by foreigners?

  8. The curse of 5rh June..
For 36 years it must have been perpetual sadness for Bishop Chang Tim and his family to have endured this heavy burden, Knowing that his beloved brother Davidson was mercillessly executed by memebers of this vile regime on that day. And yet Bishop Chang
Tim carrioed this burden with dignity and gracefullness. I un derstand that those who knew "Son" (as he was affectionally known)
would say that Son was a descent human being, friendly and compassionate to his fellow citizens. He had a loving family, with children. In fact we believe he was even "father! to Bishop Chang Tim and his other siblings, as the true father had died.
It did not matter to memebrs of Party Le Pep. Son had to be distroyed. This heinious crime was commited on 5rg Hybe, for pure selfishness, jealousy and greed - to satisfy the desure of the "pseudo viceroy" - who wanted to enrich his own family.
Rwgretably many other good men, citizens of this country or not were executed virtually the same way. Amongst those who were brutally murdered were: Antat, Debousse, Ah Time, Hoarau, Rachel, Eulantin, Henriette, Jouanneau, Azemia, Payet, Botsoi, Carpin, Bouchero#eau and others. It is absolutely vile mto witness members of Party Le Pep, Vice President, Ministers in all their red attire displaying utter disregard for the feekubgs of the families of those they have killed. PP have the audacity to celebrate, dancing, worshiping an ugly idol which represent the executions of their fellow citizens. Irt is grotesque to be aware that this included a Minister of Morality and a former Minister of Education. It is a pretext when this very group of people are seen on their knees in our Christian churches. Whatever they have done is crude and nothing Christyians about it.
When we see you in our churches , we know what hypocrites you are.
You might as well dance on the graves of these poor souls in your demonic minds. We contrast your satabic minds to the virtue of Bishop Chang Tim. We applaud Bishiop Chang Tim for adiopting a Christian approach on 5th June organising a Chriistian service to remember those souls you have murdered.
We would encoyrage Bishop Chang Tim or whoever wish to, to continue to show that that there are still some of us with hum, naity for the mothers, wives, children of thiose Party Le Pep chose to disp[ose of by executions.
We should contin ue to observe this day 5th June, completely diffrerently from party Le Pep cronies and organise a service every year on 5rh June - so that their families could remember tyhheir loved ones = as we do.
Rhank you Bishop Chang Tim. You are a true citizen of the Seychelles, who cares.

  9. Commission of Truth and Reconciliation has started?
The previous comment makes sense to the silent majority; wake up Seychellois! commemorate the 5th. June as an annual event, as a day of prayer and mourning for all those killed, build a Memorial site to lay your wreaths and dress in black or white to show your pain!
At least the daughter of the then Commissioner of Police James Pillay, has said publicly "Wi mon honte" for whatever her father had done in the past for this Government. I am told that James Pillay was the one police officer who betrayed the entire force in the coup d'Etat for the post of Commissioner. He was guilty as hell and at least his daughter Kathleen now has the courage and dignity to launch the first public statement of reconciliation in a 'commission of truth'; well done Kathleen, hope others will follow your example.

  12. If ever there was evidence of the great divide of the Seychelles society and seeds of perpetual instability, it is the events of June 5th, not in 1977, but in 2013.

The singing of songs at Zomn Lib by Renny Bijoux, who looked like Yogi Bear trying to grab a picnic basket of self interest and advancement was sickening. Is this the man that trekked to the North Pole? Where is his back bone as a person?

All those placing roses at the foot of a metal statute made the same gesture of self promotion. They sang, laughed, and giggled with each other, robust large women danced with old men without teeth as Indian GOP workers filled the line up on the street curb. The Police was at hand to insure, no one interrupted this Seychelles tragedy.

Mancham called on the ICC to react faintly in a letter, but he was in Church soon after with Michel, who organized the June 5th Celebrations, side by side, in conspiracy, to carry on the pain for all those who suffer today, as if June 5th 1977 was just yesterday. Shame on you Jimmy, you are a disgrace. If your brothers were still alive, they would have flattened your top. If your Father Richard Mancham was still alive, he may have beaten you to a pulp and cursed you up and down Victoria. You are a true Seychelles disgrace.

I pray for all those that suffer in pain and ask the Lord to give us all strength. I pray for all those sick minds who think strengthening June 5th Celebrations, empowers Seychelles, when in fact, it destroys her every day of the year.

They were celebrating their crimes, tyranny. It is not in the Seychellois culture to celebrate and chanting songs of priase to ironize criminals, those who do it are either their parents were invovled in the genocide thus they were also brain -washed and indoctrianted or simply opportunist and well-nuorsihed Likes of Renny Bijoux who must depend on Pp to make a living for he has never been successful as a musician.Waht a surreal exhibition of remoteless from the reality of ordinary Seychellois.

  14. The blogger at 9 June, 09.07 makes a good suggestion to hold a remembrance service on 5th June yearly, to remember all those killed. This idea seems to be gathering lots of support. Whereas it is absolutely immoral for party Le Pep cronies to be made to remove loving flowers placed by relatives at the site of where Son, subsequently others perished in the same way. Is it not a contradiction that Part Le Pep supporters, in their witches red dresses were allowed to deposit flowers and dance at Zom Lib?? A revolting macabre practice prevalent in medieval epoch. This disgraceful display is surely not of Christian value. Is it?
The deliberate killings of innocent human beings, like Son and others is condemned and must not be forgotten. Those innocent citizens were not killed accidentally as some would wan us to believe. These were deliberate executions and were authorised by those hungry for power. This issue is a very emotive subject which touch on the heart of most citizens (except, seemingly Part Le Pep supporters). The displaying of open contempt for the feelings of the families of those killed, cannot be acceptable in a civilized society. The removal of flowers placed by our police station to remember our loved ones, are equally distasteful. We must always remember our dead.
Bishop Chang Tim has every reasons to remember the execution of his loving brother, Son, especially in the manner he was killed without mercy. Yes, we must have a remembrance service for the families and friends of all those poor souls killed. This should be done on 5th June, every year.
The Christian church of God is always an open public place. All those who wish to atone for their sins on that day, would be free to attend the service.

  19. BLOOD, SHAME & PAIN...5th JUNE

What kind of message is our Minister of Education sending to our children/youngsters when we see her acting as cheerleader to a "satanic" group, in red, on 5th June??
The village elders frantically clapping hands yelling as though possessed by unknown mystical illusions. In the background we see our Minister of Morality. Where is the morale in celebrating the public executions of our fellow human beings?? At one stage of this silly seance, one wonders whether a voodoo priest would be called and whether those in red would be made Davidson (Son) and others. As several foreign friends remarked,, this is a throw back of voodooism practised in the wilder part of Africa. But this is Seychelles, in the twentieth century under the management of party le pep - blood, shame and pain. I guess we could ignore the advice of IMF, but instead, consult the spirit world. Maybe party le pep can evoke their supporters out of their obvious doldrums.
It is a good idea that we aim to restore some dignity. We must organise a proper service to remember those poor souls that have been killed. The service should be open to all faith This should be held either at St. Paul's or Immaculate conception on alternative year of choice. 5th June must be remembered, but not in such a voodoo way as party le pep declares.

  22. I agree with Mr.Gill's blog 11 June, 21.38.
It is obviousl that a majority of descent citizens would want to see a remembrance service of sort to be arranged on 5th June. This would be pray for those poor souls who have been executed. Let this day be a "cause celebre" for those who can see differently from party lep pep supporters who wish to continue sucking the blood of the Seychellois. We do not need the services of Bishop Weih who has proved to be a follower, but not a leader of our Christian church. The service needs not be held in any church, really. Given a reasonable weather it can be held outdoors. However, if it is to be held in Immaculate conception; as a matter of courtesy we need only to advise Bishop Weih. IT IS OUR CHURCH. Similarly, if it is held at St.Paul's - we already have a loving and capable Bishop to lead us into prayers. If 5th June is to remain a Public Holiday, we must have alternative way of remembering our loved ones. Do not let this idea drop. We need an organiser.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Excellent points.

The celebrations of June 5 are the celebrations of evil and the cover up of crimes fomented by evil. If goodness hides, if good takes to depression on June 5th, all of Seychelles Loses.

June 5 th is celebrated because there is no opposition to it. Nor is there a a lot native program to June 5th.
I propose, on this day, let the country manifest its division openly like a big wound until she heals. Bishop weighed can sit on the walls of Olivier maradum or join us and be on the side of good. Bishop Wong can fight for his VIP perks and rest a flower at zom lib. He can wash the foot of zom lib. We do not care, because he does not know where we come from, what we have been through and the fear that nearly killed many of us at different times.

The promises of the 3rd republic must not be compromised. If it is, we are still in a one party state.

No this idea cannot be drop, for it is a noble one.Victims should be rememdered not the ctiminals who butchered them. What makes the idea also good,is the fact that for us to attend Masses regradless when, where ,what time ,there is no need to inform Chief-of Piolice etc as it would have been if it was a Protest. No one can forbid us from entering the house of God under any circumstance and any reasons.

We muast also not necesary depend on those two Bishops od have a mass,a day of pray for victims,,should those two lap dogs refuse ,seychellois priests should be contacted and organized.

After the independence is when trouble started. When two Opposition leaders known as Albert Rene and James Mancham were running for presidents. In the end there could be only one leader. The people voted for James Mancham .

Albert Rene who was a power hungry was not very happy. This is when all the nightmares started. Disappearing of people became a trend. Torturing in the naked nights began.
